What stood out most to me at Kumamoto Ramen were the individual booths. It was a unique experience to be able to “eat alone” and enjoy my meal without interruptions, allowing me to fully focus on the flavours, atmosphere, and experience. The private seating arrangement creates a calm and comfortable environment that feels very different from a typical ramen restaurant. It gives diners the chance to slow down, enjoy their meal at their own pace, and appreciate the Japanese dining concept behind the space.
The menu features a variety of appetizers, main dishes, and Japanese beverages, offering guests the opportunity to explore different flavours of Japanese cuisine. From comforting bowls of ramen to carefully prepared side dishes, each item reflects the attention to detail and authenticity that makes Kumamoto Ramen special. Whether you are visiting with friends, family, or enjoying a solo meal, this downtown Montréal ramen shop offers a memorable experience for anyone looking to discover authentic Japanese cuisine.
Red Tonkotsu Ramen — $16.49
The Red Tonkotsu Ramen is a flavourful and comforting bowl that combines a rich pork broth with a spicy miso kick. Topped with tender pork chashu, bean sprouts, black mushrooms, green onions, and a half-marinated egg, each ingredient adds its own texture and depth to the dish.
The creamy tonkotsu broth creates a satisfying base, while the spicy miso brings a delicious warmth without overpowering the traditional Japanese ramen flavours. The combination of savoury toppings and carefully balanced ingredients makes this a great choice for ramen lovers looking for an authentic and hearty meal in Montréal.
Kumamoto Ramen offers more than just a delicious bowl of ramen — it provides a unique dining experience that captures the essence of Japanese ramen culture. From the moment you step inside, the traditional décor, individual booths, and attention to detail create an atmosphere that feels both authentic and welcoming.
My visit was a reminder that great food is not only about the ingredients but also about the experience surrounding it. The Red Tonkotsu Ramen delivered a comforting combination of rich broth, tender pork, perfectly cooked egg, and carefully balanced flavours. Taking the time to enjoy each element of the dish made the experience even more enjoyable.
What I appreciated most about Kumamoto Ramen was the opportunity to slow down and enjoy my meal in a peaceful setting. The individual booths allowed me to focus on the flavours and truly appreciate the craftsmanship behind the ramen. It is a place where both ramen lovers and those discovering Japanese cuisine for the first time can feel welcomed.
I will definitely return to explore more of their menu. While I chose a classic ramen dish during my first visit, I am excited to try more of their creations, especially the Konnkorokke. Kumamoto Ramen is a wonderful destination for anyone looking to experience authentic Japanese flavours in the heart of Montréal.
