Patisserie Bao Bao Dim Sum, Chinatown Montreal

Patisserie Bao Bao Dim Sum, Chinatown Montreal

Discover Pâtisserie Bao Bao Dim Sum in Montreal’s Chinatown.

When you’re craving savoury Chinese buns, fresh dim sum, and delicious Asian treats, Pâtisserie Bao Bao Dim Sum is definitely a place to add to your list! Located at 83 Rue De la Gauchetière O in Montreal’s Chinatown, this popular bakery offers a tempting selection of Chinese favourites, including bubble tea, congee, BBQ pork buns, and their popular decorative Chinese buns.

One of the first things you’ll notice when visiting Bao Bao Dim Sum is the incredible variety of beautifully decorated buns. They’re not only delicious but also so unique and fun to look at!

There’s another little surprise to discover inside the same building. You’ll also find Pâtisserie Harmonie, which is part of the same company. While Bao Bao Dim Sum focuses on dim sum and Chinese buns, Pâtisserie Harmonie offers an assortment of cakes, mochi, durian desserts, pastries, and other baked goods. I had a wonderful time exploring both bakeries and discovering all the delicious treats they have to offer.

Trying the General Tao Chicken

Whenever I visit Patisserie Bao Bao, I usually get the dim sum. I pick up a few of my favourites and enjoy them on the ride home. During my last visit, I decided to switch things up and try something I had never ordered before—the General Tao Chicken.

The General Tao Chicken was under $12 and came with rice, bok choy, and a tea egg, making it a pretty satisfying meal for the price.

I didn’t have high expectations because General Tao Chicken can be a hit or miss. But I was pleasantly surprised! The chicken wasn’t overly greasy, and I thought the sauce-to-chicken ratio was just right. It wasn’t the best General Tao Chicken I’ve ever had, but it was still good and definitely worth trying.

My rating: 7/10—Would I order it again? Yes, especially when I’m in the mood for a quick and reasonably priced meal from Pâtisserie Bao Bao. However, if I have to choose between the General Tao Chicken and their renowned Chinese buns and dim sum, I will certainly opt for the buns!

If you’re exploring Montreal’s Chinatown and looking for delicious, affordable Chinese buns and dim sum, Pâtisserie Bao Bao Dim Sum is definitely worth a visit. With more than 30 different buns and dim sum options to choose from, there’s plenty to discover, whether you’re grabbing a few treats to take home or sitting down to enjoy a meal.

The prices are very affordable, the selection is impressive, and seating is available if you want to enjoy your food on-site. Visit Patisserie Bao Bao Dim Sum and discover some of the delicious treats they have to offer!
