If there is one thing Montréal is known for, it's food. From incredible restaurants and cozy cafés to indulgent dessert shops and lively patios, there is always something delicious to discover. Montréal is a wonderfully diverse city, and you can taste that diversity throughout its food scene. Whether you're craving Korean BBQ, Japanese ramen, Filipino cuisine, Chinese food, or something different, you'll find restaurants serving flavours from around the world throughout the city.
And the choices don't stop at restaurants. Montréal is filled with independent cafés, bakeries, dessert shops, and unique places to eat, each with its own special menu. You can spend an afternoon exploring the Old Port while enjoying a coffee and pastry and then finishing the night with dinner at a restaurant you've never tried before.
During the warmer months, Montréal becomes even more exciting. Some patios are tucked away in charming neighbourhoods, while others offer spectacular views of the city. One of my favourite patios in Montréal, which I highly recommend visiting, is Jardin Nelson in the heart of Old Montréal. With its beautiful outdoor setting and lively atmosphere, it is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal while listening to the live jazz band.

The café has a cute, cozy, and inviting atmosphere, and the staff are exceptionally friendly. Because the space is fairly small, seating can be limited during busy periods, but it's still a wonderful stop for a coffee and dessert while exploring the Quartier des Spectacles.

What I really like about Korean BBQ is that dinner becomes an experience. Instead of simply receiving your meal, you get to cook the meat yourself at the table, making Daldongnae a fun choice for a dinner with friends, family, or a group. The atmosphere is lively and social, which adds to the experience.
Daldongnae is also a great choice if you're exploring Downtown Montréal's Bishop Street, where you'll find several restaurants and cafés within walking distance. Montréal Tourism also highlights Daldongnae as one of the city's Korean BBQ destinations.

What makes Drogheria Fine so much fun is the experience itself. You order directly from the small window and can enjoy your gnocchi outside while exploring Mile End. It has become a popular stop for locals and visitors alike, and lines can form during busy periods, although the service is generally quick.
If you're creating your own Mile-End food tour, Drogheria Fine is especially convenient because it's close to other popular food stops, making it easy to grab a box of gnocchi and continue exploring the neighbourhood.

MOMO also offers beautifully made cakes, matcha desserts, macarons, and specialty drinks. I love that this cafe is the kind of place where you can stop for a dessert and coffee or make it part of a fun Monkland Avenue food adventure.
If you're looking for something unique, colourful, and a little different from the usual Montréal dessert shop, Dessert Café MOMO is definitely worth discovering.

I love that Kouzina Niata has a warm, home-style feeling. You can also pick up prepared foods, pastries, and other Greek specialties to enjoy later.

What makes Pâtisserie De La Gare particularly interesting is its neighbourhood atmosphere. It's the type of local bakery where you can grab a coffee and something sweet, pick up pastries for home, or stop in for a quick lunch while exploring Montréal-Ouest.
The pâtisserie has also recently been refreshed under new ownership, with recent visitors highlighting the renovated space, fresh croissants, pastries, and friendly service.
