I recently visited Café Rì Yue to experience what has quickly become a favourite destination among Montreal dessert lovers. From their creative matcha drinks to their beautifully presented pastries, this café offers a unique experience that goes beyond your typical coffee shop.

Seating and Decor
When I arrived at Café Rì Yuè, I was immediately impressed by the beautiful décor and attention to detail. Although I had seen many photos and videos of the café on Instagram, the in-person experience was even more impressive.
The café features a stylish and inviting design with floral decorations, comfortable seating, and unique artwork throughout the space. Every detail adds to the café’s charming atmosphere and creates a beautiful setting for enjoying drinks and desserts.
One thing to keep in mind is that seating is quite limited. The space is best suited for smaller groups of approximately 2–4 people, so arriving early is recommended if you are hoping to enjoy your visit while sitting inside.
In addition to their food and beverages, Café Rì Yuè also offers a selection of teas, coffees, merchandise, and accessories displayed throughout the café. These items can be purchased both in-store and online, making it easy to bring a piece of the café experience home with you.
What I Ordered
I was excited to place my order at Café Rì Yuè, but with so many unique drinks and desserts to choose from, deciding what to try was not easy. The staff was very helpful and recommended the matcha latte with osmanthus flowers, which sounded like the perfect choice for my first visit. To complement my drink, I also ordered the blueberry cheesecake.
My order arrived in less than 5 minutes, and I was instantly impressed. The cheesecake was served on a beautiful vintage-style plate with a gold spoon, while the matcha latte arrived in a generous cup decorated with delicate osmanthus flowers.
I tried the matcha latte first, and it did not disappoint. The drink was smooth, refreshing, and not overly sweet. The addition of osmanthus flowers was unique and blended beautifully with the matcha, adding a subtle floral flavour that enhanced the overall taste.
The Best Blueberry Cheesecake
I honestly do not have enough words to describe how delicious the blueberry cheesecake was. The cheesecake topping was incredibly soft and fluffy, while the crust provided the perfect balance and texture. There was also a small piece of gold leaf that added an elegant touch, making the cheesecake look almost too beautiful to eat.
I have tried my fair share of cheesecakes, but this one truly stands out. From the beautiful presentation to the incredible flavour, this dessert has earned a spot as one of the best in Montreal. In my opinion, it is worth every penny and is a must-try item at Café Rì Yuè.
Second Visit to Café Rì Yuè 日月咖啡馆
I enjoyed my first visit to Café Rì Yuè so much that I had to return and try more of their famous desserts. During my second visit, I ordered their popular Panna Cotta (奶冻/意式奶冻) "Jiggly Cat” dessert, a blueberry macaron, and a latte.
Let’s start with the famous Panna Cotta (奶冻), also known as the “Jiggly Cat” dessert. This adorable dessert is only available after 1:30 p.m. and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early is recommended.
The Jiggly Cat dessert was a 10/10 for me. It was incredibly smooth, light, and refreshing, with the perfect amount of sweetness. The texture was unique, and every bite was enjoyable. My only complaint is that I wish the portion was larger because it was that good!
Currently, the Panna Cotta is priced at $5.99, and considering its popularity and beautiful presentation, it is definitely a dessert worth trying during your visit to Café Rì Yuè 日月咖啡馆.
To end my visit, I ordered a regular latte (拿铁) for $4.25 along with a blueberry macaron (蓝莓马卡龙) for $4. Café Rì Yuè offers approximately a dozen different macaron (马卡龙) flavors to choose from, and each one looks beautifully prepared and delicious.
I enjoyed both the latte and the blueberry macaron. The flavours paired perfectly together and made for a wonderful way to finish my second visit. This trip was definitely worth it, and I look forward to returning to try more of their desserts and drinks in the future.
Café Rì Yuè 日月咖啡馆 is easily one of the best cafés I have visited in a long time. From the beautiful décor and welcoming atmosphere to the friendly staff and high-quality desserts, this café offers a memorable experience from start to finish.
The pricing is quite reasonable, and I believe that the quality of the drinks, desserts, and overall service could easily warrant a slightly higher price point. During my two visits, everything I ordered was fresh, beautifully presented, and exceptionally delicious.
I highly recommend Café Rì Yuè to anyone looking for a cozy café in Downtown Montreal, whether you are meeting friends, enjoying a relaxing afternoon, or searching for unique desserts and specialty drinks. Their Jiggly Cat Panna Cotta (奶冻), matcha latte (抹茶拿铁), and cakes are definitely worth trying.
