Brunch Menu – During my visit to Bar George, I was excited to explore their brunch menu, as each dish looked absolutely amazing. The menu beautifully reflects the British and Canadian influences connected to Sir George Stephen, offering elegant dishes inspired by the restaurant’s rich history and heritage.
My go-to drink is always a vanilla latte, and I knew I had to try theirs. I was genuinely impressed by the latte at Bar George; the flavour was perfectly balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness. What stood out even more was the presentation — the beautiful teacup and saucer added to the charm and elegance of the experience.
A great latte can truly elevate a brunch, and Bar George delivered. I would highly recommend trying their coffee offerings, especially if you enjoy a beautifully prepared drink served with a touch of sophistication.

Duck Fat Potatoes (Side Dish) – $5.00 This was my first time trying duck-fat potatoes, and I honestly was not sure what to expect. Surprisingly, they were quite enjoyable. The best way I can describe them is like enjoying the flavour of warm, salted duck—but in potato form.
The potatoes were seasoned and fried to perfection, creating a crispy exterior with a rich, savoury flavour. They were then generously coated in duck fat and finished with a garnish, adding an extra layer of indulgence to this unique side dish.
While the flavours were interesting and the dish was well prepared, I cannot say that it would become one of my personal favourites or something I would order every visit. However, I truly appreciated trying something different and experiencing a dish that showcases Bar George’s creative approach to its menu.
Waffles – $18 The price of these waffles may seem a little steep at first, but let me tell you—they were worth every penny. This dish was beautifully presented and topped with fresh berries, maple syrup, caramelized almonds, and brioche ice cream, creating a unique combination of flavors and textures.
Each bite was memorable. Nothing was spared when creating this waffle, from the quality of the ingredients to the careful preparation. The waffle itself was perfectly cooked — not greasy, not overdone, and with just the right texture to complement the toppings.
The addition of brioche ice cream was a standout element, adding a rich and indulgent touch to the dish. While $18 may be higher than your average waffle, Bar George elevated this classic brunch item into something truly special.
Brioche Ice Cream – The brioche ice cream was one of the most unique elements of the waffle. I was not sure what to expect, but it added a rich and creamy flavour that complemented the sweetness of the maple syrup, berries, and caramelised almonds perfectly.
The taste reminded me of the comforting flavours of freshly baked brioche, transformed into a smooth and indulgent ice cream. It was not overly sweet, which allowed the other ingredients to shine through. This unexpected addition elevated the dish and made the waffle feel more like a refined dessert experience rather than a traditional brunch item.
Overall, I give Bar George a 9.5/10. I was truly impressed by the décor, food, and service, which together created an unforgettable dining experience. The menu was simple yet sophisticated, offering elegant dishes that reflected the restaurant’s historic charm and attention to detail.
