The Keg Steakhouse + Bar Old Port Montreal

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar Old Port Montreal

One of my top restaurants to visit in Montreal is The Keg Steakhouse. This restaurant has two locations in Montreal: one in the heart of the historic Old Port and the other in Place Ville Marie. Both locations offer a similar menu, seasonal patio, and excellent service. I have visited both locations and would recommend either one. Today, I dined at the Old Port location and thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Keg's menu is well-known for its classic offerings, featuring delicious steaks, cocktails, an extensive wine list, and some of the best appetizers in the city. Let's not forget their classic Billy Miner pie that always ends up on my order.

The Keg Steakhouse is the perfect place to have a girls' night out, unwind after a stressful work week, and, generally speaking, celebrate any occasion. The dining rooms are spacious, and seating is available for small to large groups. If you're visiting Montreal for the first time, consider taking a trip to the Keg for a memorable dining experience. The vibrant atmosphere and attentive service will make your evening even more enjoyable, ensuring you leave with fond memories and a desire to return.

The Keg Steakhouse offers an impressive menu that includes classic steaks and seafood dishes. Additionally, their chicken and ribs are regarded as some of the finest in Montreal.

Let's begin with the location in Old Port Montreal. It is situated at 25 Rue St. Paul Est, Montreal, Quebec, in a building that is over 200 years old. This location features a small patio, a bar, and a restaurant. While the menu is similar to that of the Place Villa Maria location, there may be seasonal variations. During my last visit, I opted to sit outside as the weather was perfect. I ended up ordering the Caesar salad, red wine sangria, and the baked brie. Each item was delicious and worth every penny.

  • Havana Club, Beefeater, Cherry Brandy, Orange and Pineapple Juice, Fruit Medley

At only $9, this red wine sangria was worth it; the fruit juices complimented the brandy well, and the alcohol did not overpower the taste. I loved that it was topped with fresh oranges and strawberries. This drink paired perfectly with my Caesar salad and baked brie.

  • basil pesto, red pepper jelly, and crostini

I also ordered the baked brie, which I would rate a solid 10/10. This was undoubtedly the best item I have tried on their menu. The dish features baked brie, red pepper jelly, basil pesto, and crostini. It’s an appetizer that you must try at least once. The brie is served warm and should be eaten right away to fully appreciate its flavours. I have ordered this dish multiple times, and I truly love it.

  • romaine, creamy dressing, grana padano, toasted panko

I highly recommend visiting The Keg Steakhouse in Old Port, Montreal. The food is good, and the service was pleasant. Visiting during the summer and sitting on the patio really heightens the experience. The most popular items are the steaks, crabcakes, calamari, and steak and seafood combos. The restaurant is very inviting, making it a perfect spot for both casual dinners and special occasions. Be sure to try their signature desserts to round off your meal with something sweet.
