The Keg Steakhouse + Bar Old Port Montreal

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar Old Port Montreal

One of my favourite restaurants to visit in Montréal is The Keg Steakhouse + Bar. With two locations in the city—one in the heart of historic Old Montréal and the other in Place Ville Marie—you really can't go wrong with either. Both restaurants offer a similar menu, seasonal patios, and the exceptional service that The Keg is known for. Having visited both locations, I can confidently recommend either one. During my most recent visit, I dined at the Old Montréal location and thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

The Keg is well known for its classic steakhouse menu, featuring perfectly cooked steaks, handcrafted cocktails, an extensive wine list, and some of the best appetisers in the city. And, of course, no visit feels complete without ordering their famous Billy Miner Pie, which somehow always finds its way onto my table.

Whether you're planning a girls' night out, celebrating a special occasion, or simply looking to unwind after a busy work week, The Keg is an excellent choice. The dining rooms are spacious and comfortable, with seating for both intimate dinners and larger groups. If you're visiting Montréal for the first time, I highly recommend adding The Keg to your itinerary. Between the welcoming atmosphere, attentive service, and consistently delicious food, it's the kind of restaurant that leaves a lasting impression and keeps you coming back for more.

The Keg Steakhouse + Bar Downtown Montreal

Let's begin with The Keg Steakhouse + Bar in Old Montréal. Located at 25 Rue Saint-Paul Est, this restaurant is housed in a beautiful building that is over 200 years old, adding to the charm and character of the dining experience. The location features a seasonal outdoor patio, a welcoming bar, and a spacious dining room, making it an excellent choice whether you're stopping by for lunch, dinner, or drinks.

While the menu is very similar to the Place Ville Marie location, there may be a few seasonal offerings depending on the time of year. During my most recent visit, I chose to sit outside on the patio, as the weather was absolutely perfect. It was the ideal setting to relax and enjoy a meal in the heart of Old Montréal.

For this visit, I ordered the Caesar salad, a red wine sangria, and the baked Brie. Each dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and well worth the price. From the quality of the food to the inviting atmosphere, it was another memorable dining experience at The Keg.

At only $9, this red wine sangria was well worth the price. The blend of fruit juices complemented the brandy beautifully, creating a refreshing drink where the alcohol enhanced the flavour without overpowering it. I also loved that it was topped with fresh oranges and strawberries, which added a fresh, vibrant touch to every sip.

This sangria paired perfectly with my Caesar salad and baked Brie, making it an excellent choice for a relaxing meal on The Keg's patio. If you're looking for a light, fruity cocktail to accompany your meal, I would definitely recommend giving this one a try.

I also ordered the baked Brie, which I would rate a solid 10/10. This is, without a doubt, one of the best items I have tried on The Keg’s menu and an appetizer that I believe everyone should experience at least once.

The dish features warm baked Brie, red pepper jelly, basil pesto, and crostini. The combination of flavours works beautifully together, creating the perfect balance of creamy, sweet, and savoury. The Brie is served warm, so I recommend enjoying it right away to fully appreciate its texture and flavours.

I have ordered this dish multiple times, and it continues to be one of my favourites. Every visit reminds me why the baked Brie remains a must-try item at The Keg Steakhouse + Bar.

The Keg Caesar Salad is a classic choice and a great appetizer or side dish to accompany your meal. The salad features crisp romaine lettuce, Parmesan cheese, croutons, and The Keg’s signature Caesar dressing, creating a simple yet flavourful combination.

The portion size was satisfying, and the flavours were well balanced. The dressing complemented the fresh ingredients without overpowering the dish, making it a refreshing option to enjoy alongside the sangria and baked Brie. It was a great addition to my meal and another example of why The Keg continues to be a favourite for classic steakhouse dining.

I highly recommend visiting The Keg Steakhouse + Bar in Old Montréal. The food is consistently good, the service is pleasant, and the overall dining experience is one that keeps bringing me back. Visiting during the summer and enjoying a meal on the patio truly enhances the experience, allowing you to take in the charm and atmosphere of Old Montréal while enjoying your dinner.

Some of the most popular menu items include their signature steaks, crab cakes, calamari, and steak and seafood combinations. The restaurant is warm and inviting, making it the perfect destination for both casual dinners and special occasions.

To complete your meal, be sure to save room for one of their signature desserts. Ending your evening with something sweet is the perfect way to finish a memorable dining experience at The Keg.
