Patisserie De La Gare Review | A Charming French Bakery in Montreal-Ouest

Patisserie De La Gare Review | A Charming French Bakery in Montreal-Ouest

Montreal is home to countless restaurants, unique cafés, bakeries, and dessert shops, each offering something special to discover. I recently visited Pâtisserie De La Gare, a neighborhood gem that has been part of the Montréal-Ouest community for many years. This charming café is surrounded by family-owned restaurants, local flower shops, a seasonal farmers' market, and even one of my favorite places to grab fresh onigiri. It's the kind of neighborhood where you can spend an afternoon exploring local businesses while enjoying a slower pace of life.

Conveniently located at 24 Westminster North in Montréal-Ouest, just a short walk from the Montréal-Ouest train station, Pâtisserie De La Gare has recently undergone an exciting transformation. The café has been beautifully revamped with a fresh new look, an expanded menu, specialty coffee and drinks, delicious house-made desserts, and a variety of breakfast and lunch options. Whether you're stopping by for a freshly brewed coffee, a flaky pastry, a light lunch, or simply a relaxing break, this welcoming neighborhood café offers a warm and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with friends, working remotely, or enjoying a quiet moment on your own.

I previously visited this café before its recent revamp, and the transformation is immediately noticeable. While the menu has remained familiar, it continues to offer a wonderful selection of freshly baked pastries, quiches, specialty coffees, refreshing summer drinks, and ice cream. The updated space feels brighter and more inviting, creating an even better atmosphere to relax, catch up with friends, or enjoy a quiet coffee break

Quiche & Pastries

The Mediterranean quiche was one of the highlights of my visit. The crust was perfectly baked with a light, flaky texture, while the fresh ingredients blended together beautifully to create a flavorful and satisfying dish. It was easily one of the best quiches I have enjoyed in quite some time. Priced at $7.75, I felt it was slightly expensive for the portion size, but the excellent quality and taste made it a worthwhile treat.

No visit to a bakery is complete without trying a chocolatine, and Pâtisserie De La Gare did not disappoint. At $3.25, it was reasonably priced and offered excellent value. Having sampled chocolatines from many bakeries throughout Montreal, I can confidently say this one ranks among my favourites. The pastry was perfectly flaky and buttery, while the rich chocolate filling was smooth and delicious. This was an easy 10/10 and something I would happily order again.

The menu also features an impressive selection of house-made cakes that are perfect for birthdays, special occasions, and celebrations. Guests can also choose from freshly baked chunky chocolate chip cookies, delicate individual desserts, classic cinnamon rolls, and a variety of other sweet treats prepared daily.

One of the newest additions to the menu is their selection of premium lemonades, offering a refreshing way to cool down during the summer months. Whether you're stopping by for dessert, a celebration cake, or a refreshing drink, Pâtisserie De La Gare has something to satisfy every sweet craving.

Pâtisserie De La Gare is a wonderful café that I highly recommend visiting. Nestled in the heart of Montréal-Ouest, this charming café perfectly complements the area's warm and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, lunch, a specialty coffee, or a sweet treat, it's a cozy place to unwind and enjoy freshly prepared food.

While you're exploring Montréal-Ouest, be sure to discover some of the other fantastic local businesses nearby. Pick up freshly made onigiri from Onigiri Shop, enjoy a coffee at Second Cup or Tim Hortons, visit the family-owned bakery Les Délices Lafrenaie Montréal-Ouest for even more delicious baked goods, or stop by I Am Pho for a comforting bowl of authentic Vietnamese cuisine. Together, these local favourites make Montréal-Ouest a wonderful neighbourhood to spend an afternoon exploring.

If you're looking to discover a hidden gem in Montréal-Ouest, Pâtisserie De La Gare is definitely worth adding to your list. From fresh-baked pastries and handcrafted desserts to premium lemonades and specialty coffee, there's something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're a local or visiting the neighbourhood for the first time, this café is well worth the stop.
