Montreal is known for its unique and one-of-a-kind cafés, and 49th Parallel Café & Lucky's Doughnuts is definitely one worth discovering. During my visit I had the opportunity to explore this beautiful café and was impressed by the atmosphere, delicious coffee, and tempting selection of doughnuts and treats.
49th Parallel Café is located at 488 McGill Street in the heart of Old Montreal. The café occupies a historic building featuring 100-year-old exposed brick and stone, beautifully combined with a sleek retro-inspired design.
49th Parallel is known for its specialty coffee; their coffee beans are sourced through direct relationships with coffee producers around the world. This café also features Lucky's Doughnuts, a selection of handcrafted doughnuts that are made fresh daily.
The doughnut selection is especially tempting, as their selection ranges from classic vanilla and strawberry glazed to pistachio, salted caramel, crème brûlée, and other creative varieties. Lucky's also changes its doughnut selection seasonally, so there is always something new to discover.
The Menu at 49th Parallel Café
The McGill location also offers a brunch menu, with options such as sandwiches, avocado toast, salmon toast, and grilled cheese. Breakfast items, salads, and specialty toasts are available until 3 p.m.
Lucky's Doughnuts & Desserts
If you have a sweet tooth, you'll have plenty to choose from. There are more than a dozen doughnuts and other sweet treats to choose from, each offering its own unique flavour. During my visits, I tried the key lime and pineapple donuts, and I thoroughly enjoyed both. Each doughnut costs approximately $5 before tax, which I think is quite reasonable considering the café's prime location in Old Montreal.
