La Meunerie Urbaine—One of the Best Bakeries on Monkland Avenue

One of the best bakeries on Monkland Avenue is La Meunerie Urbaine, a charming European-style bakery known for its freshly baked croissants, artisan baguettes, cakes, muffins, and pastries. Over the years, both the menu and café have expanded to accommodate its growing popularity, with an even wider selection of baked goods and a larger seating area for customers.

Located at 6151 Monkland Avenue in the heart of NDG, La Meunerie Urbaine is less than a 15-minute walk from Villa-Maria Metro Station and is surrounded by many of Monkland Avenue's popular restaurants and cafés, making it a wonderful stop for breakfast, lunch, or an afternoon coffee.

A highlight of this exceptional bakery is its 2025 award for Montreal's most sought-after baguette, a testament to the passion and craftsmanship of its talented team of bakers. Using quality ingredients and traditional baking techniques, La Meunerie Urbaine has earned a loyal following among both locals and visitors.

Whether you're stopping by for a buttery croissant, a crusty artisan baguette, or one of their delicious pastries, La Meunerie Urbaine is a must-visit destination for anyone exploring Montreal's bakery scene.

Fresh Pastries & An Inviting Atmosphere

The quality of the baked goods at La Meunerie Urbaine is a perfect 10/10. Every item is made with care, and the breads, pastries, and desserts showcase a level of craftsmanship that is hard to match on Monkland Avenue. My personal favourites are the pumpkin muffins, brownies, and cakes, all of which I highly recommend.

One of the things I enjoy most about visiting La Meunerie Urbaine is that the pastry selection changes throughout the year. Seasonal cakes and cream-filled pastries are regularly introduced, giving customers something new to discover with each visit. At the same time, favourites such as their buttery croissants, artisan baguettes, and classic vanilla cakes remain on the menu year-round.

Beyond the delicious food, the bakery's friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere keep me coming back. Comfortable indoor seating is available throughout the year, with an outdoor patio open during the warmer months. While the prices are slightly higher than average for Monkland Avenue, the exceptional quality, fresh ingredients, and attention to detail make every purchase well worth the price.
