During my latest visit, I stopped by the Chinatown Montreal location at 68 Rue de la Gauchetière, located in the heart of one of Montreal's most vibrant neighbourhoods. This location is just a short walk from Place-d'Armes Metro Station, making it an easy stop while exploring Chinatown.

The menu at Sammi & Soup Dumplings is simple and easy to navigate, focusing on what they do best: a variety of delicious soup dumplings with different fillings and flavours. Guests can choose from options including pork, beef, chicken, vegetarian, and shrimp dumplings, making it easy to find a favorite.
For my visit, I ordered the sweet pork soup dumplings for $12.99, along with a side of seaweed salad for $7. The sweet pork soup dumplings were definitely the favorite. of my meal and earned a 9/10 from me. The broth was flavorful and satisfying, while the sweet pork filling was perfectly balanced. The sweetness was present without being overpowering, and the combination of the juicy filling and delicate dumpling wrapper made each bite enjoyable.
To enhance the flavor, I dipped my dumplings in chili oil, which complemented the sweet pork perfectly and added a nice heat to balance the sweetness.
The seaweed salad, however, was not my favorite and received a 5/10. While the portion was generous, I found the vinegar flavor to be a little too strong compared with other seaweed salads I tried. It wasn't a bad dish, but it simply did not stand out compared with the delicious soup dumplings.
Overall, I enjoyed my experience at Sammi & Soup Dumplings. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and happy to answer any questions I had about the menu and ingredients. While the seaweed salad was not the best that I have tasted, the soup dumplings were the highlight of my visit and are definitely worth trying.
The portion size was very generous for one person, but in my opinion, the dumplings are perfect for sharing between two people if you want to try several different menu items. The restaurant was also very clean, and I appreciated the attention to detail with the utensils, sauces, and overall dining environment.
I also loved the location and atmosphere of this Chinatown, Montreal, restaurant. Located in the heart of Chinatown and only a few minutes away from Old Port Montreal, it is a convenient stop while exploring the area. If you are planning to visit on a weekend, keep in mind that seating at this location is limited, so arriving early is recommended.
I will definitely return to Sammi & Soup Dumplings to explore more of their menu, especially since they offer more than a dozen different dumpling varieties to choose from.
