If you know me, then you already know that I absolutely love the Onigiri Shop! 🍙 Over the past year, I’ve visited them more than a dozen times, and honestly, I simply can’t get enough. With over 20 locations around Montreal and more in the works, Onigiri Shop continues to make its mark on the city.
I recently visited their newest location at 155 Rue Jean-Talon E, and let me tell you—the vibes are definitely there! From the friendly service to the delicious food, I had another great experience at one of my favourite spots for affordable Japanese-inspired food.
Onigiri Shop first opened its doors at 5600 Monkland Avenue in Montreal, and since then, it has become a popular name among Montreal food lovers. One of the things I really appreciate is how affordable the onigiri are, making them an easy option when you’re looking for something quick, delicious, and budget-friendly.
During my latest visit to the new Jean-Talon location, the staff were super friendly, and my order was absolutely delicious. The Onigiri Shop has also updated its menu with new combo options, which are now available at all of their locations.

“New combo options, delicious onigiri, and unique Japanese desserts”
🍙 New Combos & Onigiri at the Onigiri Shop
Onigiri Shop has added new combos to their menu, giving customers even more options to choose from. The onigiris now start at $4.99, while the new combo options start at $12.99.
During my visit to the Jean-Talon location, I decided to try Combo No. 1, which came with an onigiri, soup, and a drink. I chose Onigiri No. 10—Japanese Soy-Cured Egg Yolk from the Classic menu.
Although the Japanese soy-cured egg yolk wasn’t my favourite onigiri, I still enjoyed it! The soft, creamy texture of the egg yolk paired really nicely with the soup and made for a comforting combination.
The price was a little higher than what I’m used to paying at the Onigiri Shop. However, as business continues to grow, it’s understandable that prices may change over time to reflect the current market and operating costs. Even with the price increase, I still think the Onigiri Shop offers an affordable way to enjoy a quick and delicious Japanese-inspired meal, especially with the new combo options.

The new Onigiri Shop location is very similar to the original Monkland Avenue location, which gives it that familiar and welcoming feel that I’ve come to love. There is also a new menu available, with the prices for the Classic and Fusion onigiri increasing by approximately $1.
The new combo options are available at all locations and are a great choice if you’re looking for a complete meal for one to two people. There are also loyalty cards available for the combo options.
After visiting the Onigiri Shop more than a dozen times, one thing I really hope is that they continue maintaining the same quality and standards as they continue to grow. So far, I’m happy to say that the size and taste of the onigiris remain the same, which is something I really appreciate as a longtime customer. I’ve also always received amazing service during my visits, and my latest experience was no different. The staff was friendly, my food was delicious, and once again, I left as a satisfied customer.
I’m excited to see what comes next for the Onigiri Shop as they continue to expand across Montreal. Could more locations be coming soon? 👀🍙
