Since opening its first location on Monkland Avenue, this popular onigiri shop has truly been on a roll! 🍙 They’ve quickly become one of my go-to spots for delicious Japanese onigiri, desserts, and, of course, affordable food.
The restaurant recently opened its 9th location at 3692 Boulevard Saint-Laurent, and I’m excited to see what’s next for this growing Montreal favourite. With locations continuing to pop up across the city, it’s becoming easier than ever to enjoy a quick, delicious, and affordable Japanese-inspired meal wherever you are in Montreal.
I recently visited their Jean-Talon location and had a memorable experience discovering their new menu and latest food offerings. The updated menu gives customers even more to choose from, including additional onigiri flavours, Japanese desserts, noodles, drinks, and side dishes. There were so many new options to explore, and I was excited to see what caught my attention.
Whether you’re already a fan of their onigiri or you’re discovering the restaurant for the first time, there’s plenty to explore on the new menu. From savoury bites and filling noodles to sweet Japanese treats, you can mix and match your favourites to create your own meal.

The Onigiri Shop menu is divided into three main categories: Classic, Fusion, and Chef’s Special, giving you plenty of flavours to choose from. Whether you prefer traditional Japanese-inspired fillings or want to try something a little different, there’s a good variety of onigiri to explore.
They also offer Japanese desserts, soups, drinks, and side dishes, making it easy to put together a complete meal. Each location now offers new combo options, starting at $12.99 and going up to $27.99 for two people. These combos are a great option if you want to try several items while keeping your meal affordable.
I’ve personally tried most of the onigiri on their menu, and a few of my favourites include the Korean Fried Chicken, Vegetable Mix, and Japanese Soy-Cured Egg Yolk. Each one has its own unique flavour, and I love having so many different options to choose from.
One thing that really stands out to me is the consistency across their locations. I’ve had the opportunity to visit all nine Onigiri Shop locations, and I’ve found the quality to be consistently good throughout. Whether I’m visiting one location on the West Island or stopping by another in the heart of Montreal, I know I can expect the same delicious onigiri and affordable options.

I highly recommend the Onigiri Shop, as it has become one of my favourite places in Montreal for delicious and affordable Japanese-inspired food. 🍙 While the prices have increased slightly, I still find the Onigiri Shop to be very affordable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes.
One thing I appreciate is that the quality has remained consistent, and the sizing of the onigiri has not changed. After visiting all nine locations, I’ve been impressed to see that you can enjoy the same great quality no matter which location you visit.
With the restaurant continuing to expand, the Onigiri Shop will soon be in a neighbourhood near you! Whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch, picking up dinner, or simply craving a delicious onigiri, there are plenty of options to choose from.
