Nouilles de Lan Zhou, Saint Catherine St Montreal

Nouilles de Lan Zhou, Saint Catherine St Montreal

For over a decade, Nouilles de Lan Zhou has been serving up delicious hand-pulled noodles, flavourful soups, and tasty appetizers at its Chinatown location. 🍜 So, you can imagine how excited I was when I heard that this Montreal favourite had opened a new location in downtown Montreal at 1925 Saint-Catherine St. W.

Nouilles de Lan Zhou is one of my favourite restaurants in the city, so I was eager to visit the new location and see what had changed. I wanted to discover whether the new restaurant offered the same experience as the original Chinatown location, as well as check out any new menu items, changes, and differences between the two.

And while Nouilles de Lan Zhou did not disappoint, I did notice a few slight differences between the original and new locations. From the atmosphere and layout to the menu and overall dining experience, there are some things worth knowing before you visit.

This iconic Montreal restaurant has also built a strong reputation with diners, currently holding a 4.6-star Google rating. With its continued expansion and popularity, it’s exciting to see this longtime favourite becoming accessible to even more people in Montreal.

Come along with me as I take you inside the new downtown location, share what I ordered, and compare my latest experience with the original Chinatown restaurant. And don’t forget to comment below and tell me which Nouilles de Lan Zhou dish is your favourite! 🍜🥢✨

The new Nouilles de Lan Zhou location has a very similar look and feel to the original Chinatown restaurant. They’ve kept some of the restaurant’s iconic design elements, including the exposed brick wall and blue backsplash, which give the space a familiar and authentic feel.

One noticeable difference is that the noodles are made inside the restaurant, rather than being visible from the street like they are at the Chinatown location. While I personally enjoyed being able to watch the noodle-making process at the original location, I didn’t find this to be a problem at the new restaurant.

I also really appreciated the little extras provided with every meal. Utensils, water, and chili sauce are available, which is always a huge plus, especially if you love adding a little extra heat to your noodles. 🌶️🍜

The new location also offers seating for both individual diners and groups, making it a convenient place to enjoy a meal whether you’re stopping in alone or meeting up with family and friends. And for those who like bringing their furry companions along, dogs are welcome on-site, which is another nice feature to know about.

Overall, the new location maintains many of the familiar elements that make Nouilles de Lan Zhou special while giving diners another convenient place to enjoy their famous hand-pulled noodles. 🍜🥢

My go-to at Nouilles de Lan Zhou is usually Combo #2, which comes with a soup and an appetizer. But this time, I decided to switch things up and try the Chicken Chow Mein—and let me tell you, I was not disappointed!

The Chicken Chow Mein was $17.99 before tax, and the portion was incredibly generous. In fact, there was enough food for two people to enjoy, making it a great option if you’re looking for a filling meal that can be shared.

The dish was packed with a delicious combination of noodles, tender chicken, and fresh vegetables, including cabbage, broccoli, carrots, bean sprouts, and onions. Everything was sautéed together in a sweet and flavourful sauce, then finished with black pepper and seeds for an added touch of flavour and texture.

If I’m being completely honest, I really loved this dish! Everything was cooked perfectly, and I thought all the ingredients blended together beautifully. The noodles were satisfying, the vegetables added a nice crunch, and the sweet sauce brought all the flavours together without overpowering the dish.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this meal, especially since I normally stick with my usual combo. This is definitely a dish I would order again! ⭐

The Chicken Chow Mein is also available with beef, and you can choose to order it as part of a combo if you want to enjoy it with soup and an appetizer. My rating: 10/10.

Nouilles de Lan Zhou, Saint Catherine St Montreal

I really enjoyed my visit to the new Nouilles de Lan Zhou location. The menu is great, and I noticed several newly added dishes that aren’t available on the Chinatown menu, which gives you another reason to check out the downtown location.

If you’re travelling by foot or using public transportation, the restaurant is conveniently located at 1925 Saint-Catherine St. W., between Atwater and Guy-Concordia Metro stations. It’s an easy location to get to while exploring downtown Montreal. Now for my honest opinion—I actually preferred the taste of the food at this location compared with the Chinatown restaurant. 🍜 Of course, taste is personal, but I really enjoyed everything I tried during this visit. The food quality remains excellent, and the service was just as impressive.

The staff were super friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better. There’s also a bathroom located in the basement, and if you’re driving, street parking is available for a fee in the surrounding area.

Overall, I highly recommend checking out both Nouilles de Lan Zhou locations. The Chinatown restaurant has its own charm and history, while the new downtown location offers a convenient setting and some additional menu choices.
